What it's about
Every event has a visibility setting – four levels, from completely private to visible to everyone.
Why it's here
Even in a shared family, not everything needs to land in everyone's head. A therapy appointment, a job interview, buying a gift – that's nobody else's business, at least not yet. On the other hand, family duties like “take the bins out” need to be visible to everyone. patchio gives you four clearly separated levels, which matter even more in a blended family than in a two-parent household.
How it works
You choose between four levels: Private – only you see the event. Selective – only the people you've chosen as participants. Household – everyone in the current household sees it. Group – visible to the members of a specific group (e.g. “Tennis ladies”), even across household boundaries.
Who can change the visibility? The person who created the entry. Only they see the list of names behind “Selective” – and only they can change it. For other people's occasions and birthdays, the current level therefore shows as plain text, with no picker. That way, no list of who can see something can quietly stay behind if someone changes the level.
In practice
Your job interview is set to “Private” – no one else sees it. Your mother-in-law's birthday is “Household”, so nobody at home forgets it. Tennis practice is “Group”, so only the club sees it – the rest of the household is spared.
