patchio for shared houses
Your shared house, without notes on the fridge.
patchio is built as a family app. But the calendar, shopping list, cleaning rota and shared costs inside it are simply household features – and those work for your shared house exactly the way they work for any family.

What patchio takes care of for your shared house.
Seven features that work in any shared household – family or not.
One calendar for every event
A washing-machine slot, a house barbecue, a friend staying at the weekend: every event is private, shared with specific people, or visible to the whole house – you decide per entry.
More on thisOne shopping list everyone can see
Loo roll is running low, one person adds it, another ticks it off on the next shop. The list is always up to date and works offline in the shop too.
More on thisA cleaning rota with rotation
Bathroom, kitchen, hallway: patchio shares out recurring tasks with rotation automatically, instead of negotiating it again every week.
More on thisSettling costs, without a spreadsheet
Who fronted the cost of the crate of drinks, who bought the bulk pack of loo roll? You split expenses equally, by percentage or by share – patchio adds up the balances.
More on thisA shared pantry
The pantry tracks what should be in the kitchen and cellar. If something's running low, it lands on the shopping list by itself.
More on thisLoyalty cards for the shared shop
One person adds the supermarket loyalty card – after that, everyone in the house has it on their phone, even offline at the till.
More on thisA screen in the hallway
An old tablet shows the cleaning rota, calendar and shopping list on the wall – without anyone having to sign in on the device.

A day in the shared house with patchio.
- Monday morningThe coffee's run out. Whoever notices first taps it into the shopping list – it's done once someone brings it back from the shop.
- WednesdayAccording to the cleaning rota, the bathroom's up today. Next week, the next person in the rotation takes over automatically.
- ThursdaySomeone fronted the cost of the crate of drinks – log it once as a shared expense, and the balances for everyone update by themselves.
- Friday eveningThe house barbecue is in the calendar, visible to everyone. Anyone bringing a friend just adds it as their own event.
Where patchio is thinking of a family, not your shared house.
A few modules really are only for families with children: the parenting schedule for separated parents, the whole school section with timetable and grades, and children's profile cards with an emergency card. For your shared house, they simply stay unused in the module menu – Manage → Modules switches them off without losing anything. Health and the cycle log stay private to each person too, not something a shared house keeps together.
And one more honest point: a household in patchio currently has room for up to 8 individual logins. That's enough for most shared houses – if yours is genuinely bigger, do get in touch through the feedback form in the app.
What shared houses ask about patchio.
- Yes, originally. But the calendar, shopping list, cleaning rota, shared costs, pantry, loyalty cards and the wall display are household features – they don't know about family, only about a shared household with several members. The few modules that really are only for families with children just stay unused for your shared house.
- Exactly like any other household: €4.99/month or €39/year, however many housemates join in. For a house of four, that's just over a euro a head per month. Before that, try it free for 30 days, no card needed.
- Through the finances module: you split expenses equally, by percentage, by share or exactly, and patchio adds up the balances and simplifies debts down to as few payments as possible. No bank connection needed for that – attach a receipt photo or enter the amount, and that's it.
- For the calendar, visibility is set per entry: private, shared with specific people, or visible to the whole household. The shopping list, cleaning rota, finances and pantry, though, are deliberately shared lists that every member sees and edits – that's exactly what makes them useful for a shared house.
- Yes, through the task lists: repeats with rotation share out recurring tasks like the bathroom or kitchen automatically. Whoever's free first can also just grab a task, and “logged by/when” shows clearly who did what.
- A household currently has room for up to 8 individual logins – that's enough for most shared houses. If yours is bigger, tell us through the feedback form and we'll take a look.
- From the member list, an admin removes the person from the household – their access ends straight away, and a few personal links such as their event assignments get deleted. The rest of your shared data stays untouched.
