ICS import (Google, Apple, Outlook)

What it's about

You import existing events from Google, Apple or Outlook calendars into patchio as an .ics file.

Why it's here

If you're moving from another calendar, you don't want to retype 200 events. And if you keep a work calendar, you want selected events in the family view without mirroring the whole thing. The .ics import is the pragmatic bridge – one-off or regular.

How it works

You export an .ics file from the source calendar (every common app can do this) and upload it to patchio. You get a preview of the events it contains and decide whether to bring in all of them or only some. When importing, you set the visibility and who's involved – the imported events become full patchio events that you edit just like any other.

It works the other way round too: patchio can output your calendar as an .ics file itself – see “Export calendar (.ics)”.

In practice

You export your Apple Calendar with the school events from the previous school and import it into patchio. You only bring in the twelve relevant school dates and set them to “Household” – everyone at home can see them from then on.
