What it's about
On a computer, the calendar has a sidebar on the left called “My calendars” – it controls what shows in the calendar, so the view doesn't get cluttered.
Turning layers on and off
Under “Show”, you switch individual layers on or off: all family events, only your own events, group calendars, public holidays, birthdays, tasks with a due date, and who's home. What you switch off, the calendar hides – your choice is saved on this device.
Filtering by family member
Below that, you can select or deselect individual family members. If not everyone is selected, the calendar only shows events that involve the people you've chosen.
Navigation & menu
The small month view at the top of the sidebar jumps quickly to a date. The ⋯ menu in the sidebar takes you to Import, Export & subscribe, Print and Birthdays. You can show or hide the sidebar with the sidebar icon.
Tasks in the calendar
Tasks with a due date appear directly in the calendar – on the due date, next to events: as a small entry with a checkbox in month and week view, as its own card in the agenda. Tapping the checkbox ticks off the task right there (with points, confirmation and repeats, just like in the lists); tapping the title opens it as a view – “Edit” inside it takes you to the form. Overdue tasks show in red, done ones with a strikethrough.
You can show or hide them via “Tasks with a due date” in the sidebar (on your phone, via the ⋯ menu).
Events in a person's colour
Events appear in the colour of the person they involve – so you can tell at a glance who an event is about. You set your colour in your profile; without a setting, patchio assigns one automatically. If an occasion has its own colour (a birthday or a holiday, say), that one wins.
If several people are involved, the bar stays neutral and shows a thin multicoloured edge instead (one stripe per person) plus small avatars of the people involved – with “+N” when there are many. That keeps it one event on one line, while still showing you who's in it.
Multi-day events run as a continuous band across the days they cover – in both week and month view. The title appears once, at the start; if an event runs past Sunday, it continues into the next week (the ‹ › arrows show that). If a day has many bands stacked up, the month view tucks the rest away under “+N more”.
Events with resources
If you link an event to a resource (a car, a pet, a tool …) instead of a person, it appears in that resource's colour. Resources have their own bold colour palette so you can tell them apart from people at a glance – you set the colour on the resource itself. If a person and a resource are on the same event, the same logic as for several people applies: a neutral bar, a multicoloured edge and small icons for everyone involved. On your phone, you can also filter the calendar by resource under “Filter”.
Who's home – presence as avatars
If you use the parenting schedule, the calendar shows, for each day, who's home according to the plan – as person avatars instead of plain dots: a photo if there is one, otherwise the initial on that person's colour. Hover over an avatar to see the name. In month view, the avatars stack to save space (from five people, with a “+N” circle); in week view there's a dedicated “Home” row under the all-day bar; in the agenda, avatar and first name sit side by side.
You can show or hide who's home via “Who's home” in the sidebar (on your phone, via the ⋯ menu).
The current week
In month view, the current week sits slightly taller and gently highlighted, so you can find your bearings straight away.
