What it's about

patchio shows you the public holidays for DACH – accurate down to the federal state or canton.

Why it's here

A holiday in Hesse isn't automatically a holiday in Bavaria, and a holiday in Geneva isn't the same as one in Zurich. If you're counting on the day off and find out on the day that you don't actually have one, that's a problem. patchio gets this right – state by state in Germany (all 16), nationwide for Austria, canton by canton for Switzerland.

How it works

You set the region in your household settings (e.g. “Hessen”, “Wien”, “Zürich”). Public holidays then appear automatically as an all-day marker in the calendar, clearly highlighted in colour. They aren't real events – you can't delete or edit them, they're just there for context.

In practice

You set “Hessen” and don't see All Saints' Day (1 November) marked as a public holiday in the calendar – correct, since it isn't one in Hesse. A relative in Bavaria has set “Bayern” in their own household and does see it.
