What it's about
You decide what you hear about, and how. In your profile, under “Notifications”, you'll find a list of every topic – event reminders, tasks due, the parenting schedule, the shopping list and more.
Why it's here
Not everyone wants an email for everything, and some things are enough as a note in the app. So patchio fits you, not the other way round: you set what you need, topic by topic.
How it works
For each topic, you choose email, in the app, or both. Everything's on by default – just untick what you don't want. A few topics, like new items on the shopping list, only come as a note in the app.
One topic is Someone's going shopping: when someone in your household taps “Shopping” on the shopping page, you get a note that they're heading off shortly (or at a time you choose) – so you can still add anything you need. You can turn this off per channel here too.
You can also turn off notices from the patchio team (product notices) here – how that works is covered in Product notices.
Finance topics
If the Finances module is active, three money-related topics are added – all available by email or in the app, and each one can be turned off:
- New shared expense – someone adds an expense you're part of. You see your own share.
- Payment recorded – someone records a payment that affects you.
- Fixed costs settled – shared fixed costs have been settled for a month.
Whoever triggers the action themselves doesn't get a notification for it. Private or solely-paid expenses don't trigger anything either.
In practice
Say you don't want a flood of emails in the morning. Leave event reminders “in the app” only, but keep tasks due by email too – the ones you want to be sure not to miss.
