Health: Medication
Log what's taken and when – patchio reminds you in good time, keeps track of the supply, and keeps a dose log. Especially handy for children: parents add the medicine to the child's profile, and both guardians can see whether the midday dose has already been taken.
Frequency
When adding a medicine, choose how often it's taken:
- Once / twice daily – the matching dose times are ready-made.
- As needed – no fixed plan and no reminders. The medicine appears on Today in its own “As needed” section, with a “Taken” button: tap it every time you take it – the last dose can be undone.
- Custom – choose between By weekday (e.g. Mon/Wed/Fri) and Every n days (a fixed interval, e.g. every 3rd day, counted from the start date). Either way, you can also set several dose times a day.
- Combos only – no plan of its own: the medicine doesn't appear on its own on “Today”, only as part of your combos (see Combos & supply).
Times, dose & unit
Each dose time has a dose in a chosen unit (tablet, capsule, drop, ml, puff, or your own). Example: 08:00 → 1 capsule, 20:00 → 2 capsules. The strength (e.g. “400 mg”) is separate – it's shown as text on the name and doesn't draw down the supply.
Need different times or doses at the weekend, turn on “Different times at weekends” and enter Saturday/Sunday separately. On “Today” and in reminders, the right plan for the day of the week then applies automatically.
Supply & restock reminder
Optionally, enter your supply (e.g. 30 capsules) and the amount at which you want to be reminded (e.g. 6). Every confirmed dose automatically draws down the supply; undoing a confirmation credits it back. Once the supply drops below the threshold, patchio notifies you once (in the app and by email) – after that, a subtle note stays on the medicine until you top up (“+ pack” or correct the amount). Only then is the reminder live again.
Duration
Unlimited for an ongoing treatment, until a date, or for n days (patchio works out the end date, e.g. antibiotics for 7 days). After the end, the medicine no longer appears on “Today”.
Reminders
At dose time, patchio notifies you via the bell and by email – with the exact dose (“2 capsules at 20:00”). For a child, reminders go to all guardians. You can pause reminders per medicine (e.g. on holiday): doses stay tickable on “Today”, you just don't get notified. Turning them off entirely – for all medicines – is done in your profile under Notifications, where you control the supply reminder separately. Note: pausing only affects dose reminders, not the supply reminder.
Adding one – on your phone and on a computer
On your phone, you add a medicine step by step (Medicine → Dose plan → Duration → Supply & visibility); to edit, open the individual sections via cards. On a computer, everything sits in one dialogue with section navigation on the left.
Private, on purpose
Like everything in the Health module, medicines are private by default – only you (and, for children, their guardians) see them, not even admins. You can share a medicine with specific people or the whole family. Whoever can see the plan can also see the supply.
Good to know
patchio isn't a medical product and doesn't replace medical advice – it just reminds you, tracks the supply, and logs what's been taken. Confirming works offline too. If a medicine is at the same time in a combo and also has its own plan, both count together as one dose, at the combo's amount. Existing medicines keep working unchanged until you add a unit or a supply.
