Tasks
First come, first served

What it's about
First come, first served is the relaxed mode – a task sits in a pool, and whoever has the time and the inclination takes it on.
Why it's here
Not every task needs to rotate strictly. “Water the plants” at the weekend can just as well be done by whoever's home first – and in a blended family, “whoever's around” is often fairer than a rigid rota. This mode is the mix of “everyone sees it” and “one person grabs it”.
How it works
When creating the task, you set the mode to “First come, first served” and choose the pool of people. The task shows up in the list for everyone in the pool – there's no fixed assignment. Whoever wants to take it on taps “Claim” – from that moment, it's assigned to that person and disappears for everyone else. If the claim is undone, it's open again.
In practice
“Walk the dog” sits in the pool for everyone in the household on Sundays. Whoever wakes up first taps “Claim” and ticks it off after the walk. The others saw the task that morning – by the time they looked again, it was gone.
