Weekly briefing

Weekly briefing

On Sunday evening, patchio can sum up the whole coming school week for you – for all the household's children in one message. You'll find the switch for this at the bottom of the Timetable tab, right under the school bag reminder.

What's in it

One header line per child with name, class and – for A/B weeks – which week is coming: the first name, then “(5a) · Week B”. Below that, at most one line per weekday, and only for days when something out of the ordinary is happening:

  • Assessments, with type and subject: “Test in maths – fractions”;
  • School events running that day – for multi-day ones, patchio counts along: “School trip: Berlin (day 2 of 3)”. Times are shown where they apply: “Parents' evening, 19:30–21:00” on the day itself, “from 07:30” on the school trip's departure day, “until 17:00” on the return day;
  • your slot notes from the timetable: “Swimming – PE kit”;
  • days off: a moveable day off (“off – moveable day off”), a holiday in the school's region (“Holidays – summer holidays”), or a public holiday, by name: “Thursday: Public holiday – Ascension Day”.

A day with nothing special just stays out – no “Tuesday: normal”. If there's nothing coming up all week, the briefing says so too.

Holidays and public holidays

If part of the week falls in the holidays, that's shown on exactly those days. If the whole week (Monday to Friday) falls in the holidays – or is entirely recorded as a moveable day off – the briefing stays out entirely for that child. If all the household's children are on holiday, no message comes at all.

Public holidays are shown, but never make the briefing skip – unlike the school bag reminder, which stays quiet the evening before a public holiday. Both times, the school's region applies: Ascension Day appears in a Bavarian child's briefing, not in a Berlin one. If the school has given the day its own name (say, a bridging day (Brückentag) as a moveable day off), that name wins over the generic “Public holiday”.

Whatever you've entered for a public holiday stays visible and is appended: “Thursday: Public holiday – Ascension Day · School trip: Berlin (day 4 of 5)”. That way, you can also spot if an assessment accidentally falls on a public holiday.

When it comes

The briefing always comes on Sundays, at a time you choose yourself. It looks at the coming week (Monday to Friday), not the current one.

Who gets it

As with the school bag reminder, only household members with their own login can be recipients. The recipient list is a separate one, though – independent of who gets the school bag reminder. So, for example, only one parent can subscribe to the weekly overview, while the daily packing list goes to both.

The message arrives by email and in notifications. You can turn off each independently in your profile, under notifications.
