Today: the school day at a glance

Today

“Today” is the second tab of the School module and the view for the current school day: which lesson is on right now, what's next, when does school finish? The overview before it looks at the next few weeks; “Today” looks at the next few hours. If you've set up more than one child, switch between them at the top with the child switcher.

There's hardly anything to enter here: you maintain lessons, assessments and tasks on the other tabs, and this page puts the day together from them. Only missing grades can be added right here (see below).

Right at the top

  • Holiday note – how long until the next holidays, during the holidays the days left, and on a single day off its name. The holidays of the school's region apply, not those of where you live.
  • Week A or B – only if the school has A/B weeks and there's school today.
  • Check-in after the holidays – if the school has A/B weeks, patchio asks once in the first school week after the holidays whether the count is still right (not after single days off). Whoever can write for the child sees the question. “Looks right” confirms it; “No, week B” (or A) shifts it by one week. More on this under “Timetable, breaks & A/B weeks”.

Right now and up next

On a school day, the lesson that's on right now is highlighted at the top, with the time left (“16 min left”). Below it, the next lesson with how long until it starts (“in 10 min”), then the rest of the day. Each line shows the subject, time, room and your note from the timetable (“PE kit”); clubs carry a “Club” label.

The display keeps up with the clock: if the page stays open, it moves on by itself, and after midnight it shows the new day. After the last lesson, it says “That's it for today” with the day's lesson times.

If there's no school today, you see “No school today 🎉” instead of the lessons, with the reason: weekend, holidays, a day off you entered, or a weekday with nothing in the timetable.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow's lessons, with the span from the first to the last lesson and, with A/B weeks, the week. Identical lessons back to back appear as one block, just like in the timetable. If tomorrow is free, you only see the reason (“Weekend – no school.”).

Unlike the “Tomorrow” card in the overview, “Tomorrow” here really means the next calendar day – so on a Friday it says “Weekend”, not Monday.

Coming up

The assessments in the next two weeks, each with subject and countdown (“tomorrow”, “5 days to go”). You enter them on the “Dates” tab.

Taken – grade missing

Up to three assessments that have already been taken but don't have a grade yet – most recent first. Whoever can write for the child adds the grade right here with “Grade”.

Only people who are allowed to see the child's grades see this block. If grade visibility is set to “Only the child”, it stays hidden for everyone else – the list alone would otherwise give grades away. More on this under “Who can see the grades?”.

To do

Open tasks from the “School ‹first name›” task list that are due in the next seven days – that's the list the setup assistant offers you; you can also put the revision tasks for an assessment there. At most four are shown; “Tasks” takes you to the Tasks module. If there's no such list, the block doesn't appear.

No timetable yet?

Then the tab says “No school today” every day – there's nothing in the timetable yet. A note at the bottom with “Add it now” takes you straight there.
