Family
Blended-family setup
What it's about
Blended families live across two or more households – patchio maps this cleanly, without mixing your data together.
Why it's here
If a child lives with Mum and Dad in turn, events and tasks attach to both households. Classic family planners only know the linear two-parent family and fail at this reality. patchio turns that round: a person can belong to several households at once, and the data stays isolated per household – what happens in household A, household B only sees if you deliberately share it.
How it works
You're a member of several households at once and switch context with the household switcher. A child living in both households is mirrored through the identity link between the households – both parents see the same child, but each household manages its own events, tasks and points for that child. You control who sees what through the visibility of individual events, and through the household link (see “Linked households”).
In practice
Say a child lives with you one week, and with their other parent the next. Link your child's profile with their profile in the other household – birthday, allergies and the emergency card stay in sync, but the weekly paediatrician task stays in its own household.
