Getting started
Create or join a household
What it's about
The household is patchio's central container – everything organised together hangs off a household.
Why it's here
A family is more than a list of names: it's about shared events, tasks, contacts, shopping. To make it clear who sees what and who helps organise, you need a clean frame – the household. As is typical for blended families, you can be in several households at once too, without the data getting mixed up.
How it works
At your first sign-in, you create a household, give it a name (your family name, say), and become its admin automatically. From the household, you generate a sharing code that lets others join, or link their own household. Already been invited to a household? Enter the code you were given during setup instead. Several households side by side are no problem – the household switcher at the top of the app switches context at any time.
In practice
Set up a household called “Family – main home” and send the sharing code to your partner over messenger. They enter the code at their first sign-in and are straight in. Later, you can also link the other parent's household, for a shared child – both households stay separate from each other.
