Record insurance

What it's about

Per vehicle, you keep the insurance on file in a structured way – separate from the linked contracts under “Costs & contracts”. So you can see at a glance on the detail page what type is insured and what excess applies.

How to record the insurance

Open the vehicle, tap “Edit”, and open the Insurance section (or go straight there via the insurance card's “Manage ›”). Choose the type:

  • Third party – no excess.
  • Teilkasko (partial cover) – with excess (Teilkasko).
  • Vollkasko (fully comprehensive) – with excess (Teilkasko) and excess (Vollkasko).

patchio shows only the excess fields that match the chosen type. You can also add the insurer, policy number and, if you have one, the Green Card number.

Where it shows up

On the detail page, the insurance appears as its own card, with the type (as a coloured badge), excess and insurer. Handy: the insurer and policy number are automatically suggested as data for your vehicle (vehicle A) in the accident report.

Removing older details

Since the insurance folder under Finances, the motor insurance lives as a policy in the folder. Anyone who recorded it directly on the vehicle before still sees this older entry on the insurance card – but it's no longer kept up to date.

Don't need it any more? Tap “Remove entry” on the card. Just that one entry disappears. The contract in the insurance folder, all expenses, and the vehicle itself stay untouched. Vehicle managers can remove it.

Who can do what

Everyone who can see the vehicle can see the insurance. Only vehicle managers can edit it.
