Mileage, fuel & consumption

Odometer

In the vehicle, open the “Odometer” section and log the current reading with a date. The most recent value counts as the current reading. patchio logs the odometer reading automatically with every fuel or charging entry. From the second entry on, a small mileage trend shows how usage develops over time.

Fuel & charging + consumption

Under “Fuel & charging”, you record every fill-up: type (fuel in litres or electricity in kWh), amount, odometer reading, date and, optionally, the price per litre or per kWh – exactly as shown at the pump; patchio works out the total itself. Use the pencil icon to correct a recorded entry at any time. The full tank/full charge switch matters – consumption is calculated using the full-tank method: patchio takes the amount put in between two full fill-ups and divides it by the kilometres driven in that time.

From this, you see your average consumption and your latest consumption (l/100 km or kWh/100 km), and, where prices were recorded, the cost per 100 km too. A reliable figure only appears from the second full fill-up on. Partial fill-ups automatically feed into the next full one. Forgot to log a fill-up? Tick “Forgot the previous tank” on the next entry – patchio then leaves that one stretch out of the calculation, so the average stays clean. A plug-in hybrid shows fuel and electricity separately.

You can export your fuel log as a CSV (Excel/Numbers) – the button sits below the list.

Servicing & repairs

In the logbook, you record inspections, repairs, tyre changes and wear parts – with date, odometer reading, cost and repair shop. patchio totals the recorded costs. You can print the complete service history as a service book (PDF) – handy when selling – or export it as a CSV.

Deleting entries that became an expense

If you've added a fuel or service entry to the household finances, an expense is attached to it. Delete the entry, and the expense goes with it – otherwise it would sit in the insights without a receipt, and count twice if you record it again.

If the expense is private and created by someone else, you can't see it, and so can't delete it either. patchio then stops and tells you, rather than removing the entry and leaving the expense orphaned. In that case, please ask the person who recorded it.
