patchio Sports: Hands-free counting

patchio Sports: Hands-free counting

patchio Sports counts your reps itself – in two ways, depending on the exercise. Everything runs directly on the device: nothing is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.

Camera – press-ups, sit-ups, planks

For these exercises, the front camera picks up your movement.

  • Position your phone so your face is in frame: flat on the floor in front of you for press-ups and planks, upright in front of you for sit-ups (against your feet or a wall).
  • A dot shows whether the camera has picked you up (“camera counts automatically”).
  • For planks, the clock only runs while you're detected.

Motion sensor – squats

Squats are counted by the motion sensor: hold your phone steady in one hand and do the squat along with it. You don't need the camera for this one.

Sounds and display

  • A sound per rep, or a countdown, keeps you posted – even with the phone on silent. That's deliberate, so you hear it if the phone's out of sight. The speaker icon during training turns the sounds off.
  • The display stays on during training.
  • Once a set is full, the app automatically switches to the rest period and counts it down.

Permissions

The first time, the app asks for camera or motion & fitness access. It uses either only for counting, on the device. You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
