Savings goals & purchases
Under Finances → Savings goals, you create pots – for a holiday, a purchase, or a rainy-day fund. Every pot has its own progress, and patchio works out the instalment that hits your target date.
Savings goal or planned purchase
- Savings goal: an open-ended or ongoing goal (e.g. “Rainy-day fund”, “Summer holiday 2027”).
- Planned purchase: a specific thing with a date (e.g. “New washing machine by November”). Same mechanism, just more fitting wording.
How a pot fills up
- Manually: you pay in amounts whenever you like. A negative amount is a withdrawal (e.g. because you've already paid the deposit) – progress adjusts immediately.
- Automatically: if you set a monthly contribution, patchio pays it into the pot automatically every month – until the goal is reached (no overfilling). Automatic contributions are marked with a spark.
Instalment & target date
With a target amount and target date, patchio shows you the monthly instalment you need (“€215/month hits your target date”) and when you'll get there at your current contribution (“done by June 2027”). A traffic light shows “on track” or “tight”.
Family or private
A goal belongs to the family or to one person; visibility (whole household / private) controls who sees it. Only you see a private goal.
In Insights
Once savings instalments are planned, Insights shows “You're putting €X/month aside for N goals – after your savings goals, €Y is left this month”. The automatic contributions aren't an expense; they don't change your expense figures, they just set money aside.
