Income & family share
Under Finances → Expenses, you'll find the Income tab: salary, child benefit (Kindergeld), maintenance, refunds and more.
The family share
For every income entry, you decide what the family sees:
- Share fully: everyone sees the amount and description (e.g. child benefit).
- Share only a part: you set an amount that you make visible to the family – e.g. €1.800 of your salary. The family then only sees “Alex's share: €1.800” (with your own first name in place of “Alex”); your full amount and the description stay private.
- Private: completely invisible to others.
New income entries default to private – you choose what to share with the family for each entry on purpose.
The shared amount is a display figure for the shared insights only – no money is actually recorded or redistributed.
Salary at month-end? “Counts for the next month”
If your salary arrives on the 28th or 29th, it's really next month's money. Turn on “Counts for the next month” on the income entry: it's still recorded on the actual payday, but Insights counts the amount towards the following month – so your July savings rate uses the salary that arrived at the end of June. In the income list, a small note (e.g. “counts for July 2026”) shows where the entry counts.
Recurring income
Set up salary and child benefit once as recurring (monthly or yearly). patchio records them automatically – even retroactively from the start date, so your insights are complete right away. You can pause it at any time; paused periods aren't recorded retroactively.
Quick add
On the dashboard, Quick add has the type Income – amount, description, shared or private, done. You manage partial shares and recurring entries under Finances → Income.
